Jaipur. Abhay Singh, popularly known as ‘IIT Baba’, was detained by Jaipur Police today after allegedly threatening suicide on social media. The police traced his location to a hotel near Riddhi Siddhi Park in Jaipur, where they found him in possession of ganja (marijuana).
Abhay Singh, an IIT Bombay graduate who gained prominence during the Maha Kumbh, was taken into custody by a team from Shipra Path Police Station. The police have registered a case against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In a statement, Abhay Singh claimed that the seized ganja was merely “prasad” (offering) and downplayed the incident. He also refuted the suicide threat allegations, stating that his social media post was misinterpreted.
This incident comes just days after Singh alleged that he was assaulted during a news debate program in Noida on February 28. He claimed that individuals dressed in saffron attire misbehaved with him and beat him with sticks during the program.
The Jaipur Police are currently investigating the matter further.
